Privacy policy

I am committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy is to inform you of the data I collect, what I do with it, and how I keep it secure.

Personal information and data

I may use your Personal Information to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from me by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any email I send.

I only collect information I know I will genuinely use, and I collect it in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This information is likely to include your name and email address. It may also include responses given in surveys, and data collected from newsletter activity (such as whether you have opened it, or clicked a link contained in it). This information helps me understand what my readers like, and enables me to send more relevant communications.

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name and email address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.  These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

I may also collect data via Google Analytics, which gathers visitor behaviour, such as which pages you visit, how long you spend on my site, how you arrived here, and what links you click. This information isn’t connected to any personally identifiable data, but helps me understand which bits of my website work, and which could be improved.

In summary, the data collected may be used for the following purposes:

– To provide and maintain my Website
– To notify you about changes to my Website
– To allow you to participate in interactive features of my Website when you choose to do so
– To gather analysis or valuable information so that I can improve my Website
– To monitor the usage of my Website
– To detect, prevent and address technical issues
– To provide you with news, special offers and general information through my newsletter

Do I share your data?

Data collected is used only by me, or by people working with me. It will never be sold or used for any other purpose. Your data is held securely.

Under certain circumstances, I may be required to disclose your Personal Information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency).

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments on my website, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you.
